Four years ago, we had the privilege of photographing the wedding of this beautiful girl's parents. We've seen their family grow stronger over these past few years, and it is a joy to document their journey. I already loved being a part of celebrating the special milestones in the lives of their two older boys, but then this precious baby girl came along and stole another piece of my heart. Grace recently celebrated her 1st birthday surrounded by lots of family and friends, and we were thrilled when the weather warmed up enough to head outside and create some beautiful birthday memories at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park. This blossoming beauty fit right in!
Check out those big, blue eyes! I also love how her mom incorporated flowers into her outfits. She is adorable in these little dresses!
Grace was on the move! I decided that I would never need a gym membership if I keep up on these first birthday sessions. There's nothing like an energetic toddler to keep you moving! If anyone ever finds a way to bottle all that energy, I'll be your first customer.
I think that she's trying to tell us, "I do what I want!"
I love this little nook in the park. It always reminds me of The Secret Garden. How long do you think they'd let me loiter with a good book and a big glass of iced tea?
One of the best parts of being a 1-year-old girl has to be the pretty birthday clothes and bows! When else in life do we get to wear frilly dresses adorned with gold princess crowns? Another obvious toddler perk: no shoes! I also have to point out that our Gracie girl is wearing one of my favorite colors.
I know most parents hope for pictures of their children looking at the camera with a big smile, but this right here is real life! I love these real moments, and I think it'll be fun look back on when Grace is grown up. If you've spent enough time with me, you know that I'm an ugly cryer. If I was this cute while I was crying, though, I'd be sure to frame it. ;)
One thing I've learned over the past few years of photographing babies and toddlers, is that many of them aren't big fans of cake. I can't get over the fact that there are so many people who don't appreciate the experience of this sweet dessert! I love being a wedding photographer for many reasons, but if I'm really honest, one of those reasons is cake. :) Grace doesn't share my love of cake, but at least she amused us long enough for a quick smash cake photo.
She might have gotten more cake on her purple tutu than inside her belly. Grace looks like she sprouted from this garden with her purple and blue flower headband and fluffy lavender tutu!
Happy 1st birthday, Gracie girl! We can't wait to see how your life continues to bloom!
