Ever since I photographed Andrew and Brittany's fall engagement session last year by Glacier Lake at Mill Creek Park, I couldn't wait to photograph their summer wedding day! At their engagement session, they were the kind of couple that would take a short request from me like "give a quick kiss," and instead they'd give 5 long kisses, a bear hug, lots of whispers, and a good dose of laughter. They were naturally affectionate and so in love, so I knew their wedding would be just as sweet! The morning of the wedding, I met Brittany and her bridesmaids at The Courtyard by Marriott in Canfield, Ohio while they finished up their hair and makeup. I was so happy to see a large, light-filled window in the hotel room. Natural light helps the hair stylists and makeup artists do their job, and also makes for gorgeous photographs of the morning.
I knew Andrew as the athletic type as he posed in his football jersey at their engagement session, but I soon learned of his impressive artistic and intellectual talents as Brittany read the poem he wrote for her. If you are a man reading this, I highly recommend learning to write poetry if you are trying to win a woman's heart!
This girl is too sweet for words! I think she could make a living as a professional flower girl! Look at that smile!
The hair stylists and makeup artists were incredibly talented. Brittany happens to have friends who are all naturally beautiful, but professional hair and makeup help that beauty come through on camera as much as it does in person. If you are planning your wedding, we highly recommend consulting a pro early on in the process to look and feel your best on your wedding day. Brittany and her girls were stunning! Can we also just admire their matching floral robes?!
The great part about working with my business partner and husband, is that I get to document the morning with the girls, and Joel catches the pre-ceremony excitement with the guys.
Andrew even got a special gift from their dog!
Brittany's dress is beautiful! While the bridesmaids got dressed at Brittany's parents' house, I had some time to photograph her wedding gown and some special details in her old bedroom.
The wedding ceremony was at St. Christine Parish in Youngstown, Ohio. It is one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in the area, especially with the ornate stained glass windows and plenty of natural light in the summertime. As much as I enjoy seeing the beautiful bride on her wedding day, I also love watching the groom's reaction when he sees his bride for the first time. Andrew was beaming with joy even before the wedding began!
Brittany and Andrew are both close with their families, which I love! These are just a small sample of the family portraits we captured for them in the church!
After the wedding ceremony, Brittany and Andrew and their closest friends took a limo to Kennsington Golf Club in Canfield for bridal party portraits. It was a beautiful, sunny, windy afternoon on the golf course. The property is breathtaking with large ponds, perfect green grass, and enough trees to keep the bridal party comfortable in the shade. More important than the location, is how much love Brittany and Andrew exude whenever they are together!
The light pink bridesmaids dresses, the pink and white rose bouquets, and the groomsmen's grey tuxes make a beautiful combination for a summer wedding!
Brittany and Andrew celebrated their wedding reception at The Embassy in Boardman, Ohio. Every last detail was perfect: floral centerpieces, candlelit dinner tables, an elaborate cookie table, a kid's activity tab for the younger guests, a beautiful cake decorated with fresh roses, delicious food, great music, a packed dance floor, and even better company!
Am I the only wedding photographer that tears up a little during the mother-son and father-daughter dances at receptions?
I always love anniversary dances! Andrew's grandparents were the last couple standing after many sweet years together as husband and wife. #marriagegoals
You know you threw a good party when most guests are still full of laughter and excitement all the way to the end of the night!
Thank you, Brittany and Andrew, and your amazing families for trusting us to document the first day of your beautiful marriage together! We wish you many years of love, strength, and happiness as you go through life together. Maybe you will even beat your grandparents' record at someone else's anniversary dance in a few decades! Your wedding day is only the beginning of a wonderful journey as husband and wife.
