Baby Noah | In-Home Newborn Session | Canfield, OH

I say this all the time, but my favorite thing about being a photographer is being a part of a family’s journey. The highs, the lows, the celebrations, and the growth. I met Tom, Therese, and their amazing pup, Piper, a few years ago for their family pictures. I’ve enjoyed getting to know them more and more each year, and I love that Piper loves to see me, too! When Therese reached out to me last year to tell me that they were adding a baby to their family, I might have ugly cried happy tears for about 60 seconds, and then regular cried happy tears for a little longer. To say I was excited to see them blessed with a sweet baby boy is an understatement!

Their formal art museum maternity session was perfection, and I was counting down the days until their due date so I could meet Noah. We decided on an in-home session, and their home is just as gorgeous as they are! (I’m just saying Joanna Gaines may have some competition!) Noah is just as perfect as I imagined he’d be, and I made sure to give him lots of cuddles between photos. The great part about having an in-home lifestyle session session was that we could work around his sleep schedule and mood. He wasn't quite ready for the posed pictures we planned at first, but after plenty of time being loved and held by his mom and dad, we made so many beautiful memories!

It was such an honor to make memories with this beautiful family during Noah’s first precious week of life. I cannot wait to see him grow over the coming months and years, just as long as he doesn’t grow up too fast, of course! Congratulations on your amazing bundle of joy, Tom and Therese!

Gold and Pink Princess First Birthday Session | Mill Creek Park | Youngstown, Ohio

I have the privilege of knowing this sweet girl and her family, and I'm thankful for the relationship we have built over the last couple years.  It seems like it was only weeks ago that I photographed her parents' beautiful fall wedding at Drake's Landing Banquet Center, so it's hard to believe that Gabriella is already celebrating her first birthday!  She is sweet, spunky, and the perfect mix of her mom and dad.  We spent a fun evening exploring Fellows Riverside Gardens at Mill Creek Park and I quickly discovered that I need to get into better shape to keep up with this energetic baby on the move!

She still has those perfect baby toes and chubby hands!  As parents, we think we'll remember every little detail of our babies and kids at different ages, but it's amazing how easily we forget their delicate features.  That's why I value photography.  It's the only way we can protect our priceless memories through each passing year.

I was thrilled to see that Gabriella's mom had this sign custom made by Chalk It Up by Fallon in Cortland, Ohio.  Not only do we love when our clients support local businesses, but this personalized chalkboard sign is going to fit in perfectly at Gabriella's first birthday princess party.  I also appreciate the irony that one of the nicknames listed for this tiny princess is "Big Mama!"

Gabriella's outfit was also custom made by another local small business, Mommy Makes Me Sparkle Children's Boutique in Howland, Ohio.  I love every detail: the personalized first birthday onesie, the pink diaper cover with ruffles, and that sparkly gold hair bow!  The gold crown on her bodysuit fits her personality so well!

Although we love families and children, we spend most of our time on wedding photography.  After a few engagement sessions and weddings, working with mostly adults, we occasionally add baby and child photo sessions into the mix.  Sessions like this keep us on our toes because babies and toddlers somehow have double the energy of adults and we never know what they will do.  I don't believe in trying to make kids and babies sit still, pose, and smile at my camera for the whole session, so I was happy to capture lots of natural moments of Gabriella in action.

My own babies aren't quite babies anymore and I miss many things from that stage of their lives.  The top of that list includes chubby thighs and squeezable arms that look like they came straight out of a baby food commercial.  Thankfully, Gabriella is still rocking the best wrist and thigh creases around!

Happy 1st birthday, Gabriella!  You are loved more than you'll ever know!

Kenny & Nicole | 1950s Diner and Buhl Park Engagement Session | Sharon, PA

When Nicole and Kenny told me they wanted to have a 1950s inspired engagement session, I couldn't wait to start planning with them.  We discovered Donna's Diner in Downtown Sharon, PA for our trip back in time.  It was perfect down to the last detail: black and white checkered floors, a cozy red corner booth, vintage Coca-Cola signs, a jukebox, large sunlit windows, and the cutest strawberry milkshake topped with lots of whipped cream.

I was distracted for a little bit by this gorgeous diamond engagement ring!  (Can you blame me?)  It is the perfect balance of brilliant sparkle and delicate design.  I'm looking forward to photographing the wedding rings and special details on their wedding day.

I love that Nicole found a pearl bracelet that complements her ring and vintage dress so well.  And can we just talk about this strawberry milkshake?  Kenny and Nicole told me that it was delicious, and I believe them because we stayed until they finished the entire glass.  I try not to drink milkshakes on the job, so I plan to go back to Donna's Diner to test out a shake just to make sure they were right.  ;)

I can't wait to see how Nicole uses their engagement photos to decorate their vintage inspired bridal shower.  I know the Coca-Cola wall will fit right in!

After a nostalgic evening at the diner, the bride and groom-to-be enjoyed a stroll on the East State Street bridge overlooking the Shenango River.

I want to go out and buy a pretty floral dress just like this one.  I first adored it for the pretty floral print, vibrant colors, and flattering shape, but then I loved it even more for it's twirly skirt!

We still had some time before sunset, so we headed to Buhl Park in Hermitage, PA to enjoy some natural beauty.  This park is great for the obvious photo-worthy landmarks like the Casino Building and Lake Julia, but I look forward to the quiet places that are tucked away throughout the park, too.

Everyone knows I love wedding photography, and I might even love engagement sessions even more.  It is such a privilege to witness love between people and capture that moment so they will have it forever.  As I backed up and gave them some space, I asked them to tell each other what they look forward to as husband and wife.  I may have had a runaway tear escape when I saw how they looked at each other as they shared their hearts.

Can we just all have a moment of silence while I grieve the fact that I will never have eyelashes as nice as Kenny's?  At least Nicole's beautiful smile can cheer me up.  This couple is as sweet as they are gorgeous!

Thanks to Donna's Diner for graciously allowing us to use their adorable restaurant!
