Meet Your Photographer
Hi, I’m Jen!
Most days you can find me working in my home office, editing photos to the sound of 90s alternative rock, and taking frequent breaks to snuggle my kids and dog. I am a wife, mom, creative pro, people-lover, natural introvert, and self-proclaimed ice cream connoisseur. I love Jesus and strive to be more like Him. I married my best friend, Joel, 15 years ago. I have always wanted to be a mom, and am honored to be entrusted in raising two amazing little humans. I’m mostly known for my quirky sense of humor and my ability to bring out the best in strong-willed and rambunctious children, since my own kids have given me plenty of practice and patience!
I love serving the world by encouraging others and creating timeless memories that surpass life’s ever-changing circumstances. I photograph joyful couples and families who desire to capture moments that are not only meaningful and authentic, but also flattering and beautiful. I’m thankful to remind people how precious life is and how much they are loved.
As a professional photographer of 13 years, my love for serving others in this way has grown deeper than I could have ever imagined. When Joel started the business, he asked me to join him on his new endeavor. Being the amazing wife that I am, I (reluctantly) followed his lead and became his assistant and second photographer. It didn’t take much time to spark the passion that would change my life forever. After years of practice and investing into education and training, I stepped out in faith and quit my stable job, taking the reins as the lead photographer and owner of Evans Photography LLC. I’m so grateful for this life and all the amazing clients I’ve grown to know and love over the years!
If you’re dying to hear more, here are five things you might not know about me.
1. I’m one of seven children and my siblings are all friends to this day. Our parents raised us in a small house filled with love, chaos, and only one bathroom. (It builds character!)
2. I knew that I was going to marry Joel after our first date, but obviously didn’t tell him at the time.
3. Despite being a less-than-perfect housekeeper and at times appearing as a hot mess mama, I have a streak of perfectionism, I’m detail-oriented, and love a good well-researched plan.
4. I don’t personally enjoy sunny days like most people do. Although I’m confident to photograph in all kinds of lighting, there isn’t enough SPF in this world to protect my fair skin. If you’re with me outside on a sunny day, just ignore my squinting eyes and smeared mascara! Cloudy days are my favorite.
5. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work and used to work as a licensed social worker before my love of photography blossomed.
